Patriot Day is a National Day of observance on September 11th that honors the memory of those killed or injured in the September 11th attacks in 2001. This day was established through Congress, by House Bill 2113, as a holiday for all firefighters in lieu of another holiday and recognized as a day of mourning and remembrance.
