When are City Commission Meetings held?

Commission Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month unless it falls on a holiday and is deemed necessary to reschedule.  Special meetings are called during the month when necessary.

How do I sign up to speak at the next City Commission Meeting?

An individual may sign up to speak at a Commission meeting by signing up on a signup sheet provided at the meeting.  The mayor will ask for public comments and it is at this point the individual will approach the podium and is able to speak. (Public comment is limited to a maximum of 3 minutes per speaker and/or 21 minutes total time for all speakers. Not for items listed on the Agenda. No Deliberations with the Commission).

Who is responsible for preparing the agenda for the City Commission Meetings?

City Manager is responsible for preparing the agenda for City Commissioner meetings.

When and where is the City Commission Meeting Agenda posted?

In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, city commission meeting agenda is posted at a minimum of 72 hours prior to the start of the meeting, or in accordance with other provisions of the Act. The agenda is posted on the City's official bulletin board, outside city hall on the Morton Street side of the building.  Photocopies can be picked up free in the City Secretary's Office at City Hall.  As a courtesy, the agenda is also posted at the City Hall Annex on the bulletin board facing the parking lot at 600 Morton Street as well as the City of Richmond website.

How do I request the attendance of the Mayor or City Commissioner to a function?

You may send a request for the attendance of the Mayor or Commissioner to an event or function by emailing them at their respective email address (listed on their bio page) or by mailing them an invitation.  The invitation should contain the date, time, location, parking arrangements, expectations, etc of the Mayor and/or  Commissioners.

How often are elections held?

Elections are held every year if necessary, at the Richmond Water Facility,  1108 North 8th Street,  Richmond, Texas 77469

An Open Records Request may be submitted online through this website, dropped off/mailed to City Hall, 402 Morton Street, Richmond, Texas 77469,   or emailed to the City Secretary, Lasha Gillespie at lgillespie@richmondtx.gov.
