(Richmond, Texas)- The City of Richmond was presented with Scenic City Platinum Re-Certification October 10, 2024 at the Texas Municipal Leagues’ Annual Conference in Houston. 175 Scenic City officials and business leaders from across the state were on hand to recognize Richmond, which was among 15 cities to earn certification for the 2024- 2029 period.
The Scenic City Certification Program is a project of Scenic Texas, Inc. Texas cities access this diagnostic program for an objective review of existing municipal infrastructure ordinances as they relate to public roadways and public spaces. The evaluation compares the applicant city’s standards to the unique Scenic City model devised by the partnership organizations. “This recognition is intended to support cities that have a long-range vision, and we hope it incentivizes other cities to follow Richmond’s example,” said Anne Culver, executive vice president of Scenic Texas. Any Texas city can apply to the Scenic City Certification Program for an objective review of its existing municipal infrastructure ordinances and how they compare to model standards.
Richmond was awarded Bronze level status in 2016 and certified up to Platinum level in 2019. Richmond City Manager Terri Vela stated, “This Scenic City Platinum level re-certification award shines a spotlight on Richmond’s commitment to high standards for our infrastructure development and our continuing growth.”
